storm rises

over lake of weeds

age three i am

visiting aunt dinah

let’s go rowing

in the lake of weeds

says aunt dinah

we glide

mom aunt dinah and i

over lake

of weeds

sky darkens

storm rising says aunt dinah

quickly

don’t let oars

get stuck

in the

weeds

heart pounding

storm rising

faster faster

don’t worry dear

don’t worry dear

we are here
